Keep in mind that zero energy houses consume less energy than normal houses, so you will need less storage for the electricity. You can store the power in the form of warm/hot water or in the form of warm air. Read about the thermal mass and about the greenhouse effect. Mentioning the above “landscapes” you probably consider me insane. Just look at the pictures.

Nobody wants to build here because it’s unheard of. The foundations would cost a fortune and the lack of infrastructure would “shoot” the costs to the Moon. These places are extremely costly to build on with normal construction techniques. Our houses can be built anywhere with relative ease. For example: choosing pylons instead of continuous foundations would be a good idea. This would position your house above “raising waters” or “waves”. The overall cost would remain similar. Just think about Venice, Italy. The houses are in the “air” or water.

Our houses are way more powerful than brick homes. Read this to find out why: safety. You can build your dream house in places that would be “impossible” to build on. With normal methods it would cost a fortune to build here, or even just to maintain it. Building in a beautiful place is a good idea and a dream …until it becomes financially unrealistic. In case of a lightweight structure you could build it on a lake. It will float just like a boat. Thanks to the chimney effect  water vapors won’t damage it at all.

The loudest noise in your neighborhood will be the waves moving the reed and the swans taking flight.

Just think about the good part living on the lake or in a beautiful wetland area . Your only neighbors will be nature. Swans for example. You won’t have to clean up the dust as often. Your vacuum cleaner will be like new.  You won’t have neighbors. And those who build near you will probably buy a huge terrain as well. Why? Because it’s so cheap. Just think about a forest. With the extra money saved on the terrain you can buy solar panels from China. You can buy the tesla batteries and the premium version of a huge underground lake. That will collect and clean your water for free. The same underground lake will feed your family and friends with first quality organic food. The house can be built on a smaller terrain near or even in the city. However it works at its best on an isolated difficult terrain.

The best terrain has these quality’s? The best terrain is cheap, is located in a beautiful landscape ad nobody wants to build near you. If it’s on a south facing hill even better. This way you’ll harness the full power of the sun and you’ll get a nice view. You’ll have to buy fewer solar panels and you’ll benefit of the thermal mass. Basically your house won’t have heating or electricity bills. The microclimate should be windy. Use wind turbines for free energy. A fountain with drinkable water would help a lot.  High tides and small floods shouldn’t cause problems for the house.  However: water on the surface or even 3-4 meters deep could raise the investment in the underground lake. The earth should be relatively “dry” in the upper 6-10 meters.

The big negatives are real gold? I contradict myself to demonstrate a point … think outside of the box. Earlier I mentioned you shouldn’t have water near or under the lake. So let’s build the underground lake in the “worst” place ever imagined: in a swamp.  Bugs, mosquitos, small animals from the “outside” will be an organic “boost” for free. It will feed your frogs, fish, and crabs inside the lake. A strong scent or lights will attract them in. Apparently “useless” animals like a “chameleon”, frogs, geckos will eat all of the “organic” bugs. The minerals, the organic “poop” will be spread on flowers, leafs or in the water. “Chameleon” and frog waste would then feed the vegetables and fruits. Read about the aquaponics systems.

In case of a farm this won’t happen. On a farm they kill “anything alive” to increase growth rates and profits. Insulating the underground lake for the winter …. in wetland areas will skyrocket its price for sure. Skipping the insulation in wetland area is a more realistic alternative. Who cares about not having food in the winter when you can build the lake at tenth of the price in a swamp? You’ll have to build a huge room to keep the crabs and fish in the ice for winter time. Keeping many ducks in the lake will increase the temperature during winter. The fallen leaves and extra vegetables from the aquaponics  will be feed the ducks.

Especially the aeroponics systems. Fallen leaves decomposing in the lake will increase the PH levels and won’t be a good  “food source” for the plants. However liquid duck poop it’s excellent. Earth worms in the aquaponics system will “destroy” the cloaked and materials (like feathers). Keeping ducks it’s a hustle in normal ways. Here …  the water is clear all the time and that you have “nothing” to do.  If you have food surplus from the plants just let it fall in the water.  It will feed the ducks and the crabs below.

You can position some insulated shutters outside. A few miles of cheap black tubes with water in it can capture tremendous amounts of heat. Read about the thermal mass  and heat exchange. For example living in the middle of the forest or near the sea might be suitable to collect water from literally thin air. I wouldn’t use the water captured from the mist (for the underground lake) in the vicinity of a city. Thanks to eco friendliness of the house it’s a great choice to build near natural conservation areas. You’ll get a building permit with ease. Building on difficult terrain won’t raise the overall price significantly.

The biggest weakness of the terrain it’s the real gold. That makes it cheap to buy in the first place and it has extraordinary advantages. A “slippery” hillside with a gorgeous view will probably provide you free electricity from the wind. You will probably have a lightweight construction positioned on pillars to stabilize the building. Think outside of the box. A small creek could provide you energy 24/7. And nobody would buy in the “valley” because there is no electricity.

Free electricity. This same windy hillside with the creek will scare other buyers away because of the big heating bills, moist and lack of infrastructure. Building here could provide electricity for the whole valley. The energy and heat could be stored in the thermal mass or in the tesla batteries for example. In the same valley you could capture the moist quite easily for free. Make a pond on the top of the hill : pumping water in it while it’s windy or the Sun is shining. When the water flows back in the evening it will provide you plenty of electricity. It’s cheaper than buying tesla batteries. Grab the biggest weakness and go for it, you might find gold.
